Cornelia Sollfrank (*1960) has worked in worldwide communication networks since the nineties, making a particular name for herself as a pioneer of Internet art with her net.art generator project, an art-generating Internet machine. But she also appears—virtually and in reality—in many other roles: as a hacker, cyber feminist, activist, consultant, thief, voyeur, dominatrix, or art markswoman. She traces the clichés of the art scene as well as our Internet-dominated daily life. One of her work’s central concerns is the undermining of common concepts of originality and authorship, whereby a conflictual relationship to copyrighted intellectual property matters is “preprogrammed.” This book assembles and presents recent projects by the German artist, including the Internet-based software Déjà Vu: First Plagiarism Detection Software for Fine Arts developed especially for the Edith Russ Site for Media Art.
