Zbigniew Herbert

Zbigniew Herbert was a Polish poet, essayist, and playwright known as one of the most translated post-war writers. After beginning his career in the 1950s, he ceased submitting work to government publications for several decades before resuming in the 1980s via the underground press. Throughout his career, he received multiple nominations for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and his writing has been translated into 38 languages.
