Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer (1343–1400) was an English poet, philosopher, and civil servant who served as a courtier and diplomat. Often referred to as the father of English literature, he is best known for his unfinished frame narrative, The Canterbury Tales. He is recognized for demonstrating the artistic legitimacy of the vernacular English language and was the first writer buried in Poets' Corner at Westminster Abbey.
