Bernard DeVoto

Bernard DeVoto was an American historian, conservationist, essayist, and educator known for his popular histories of the American West. He authored several novels and served as a long-time columnist for Harper's Magazine, where he wrote the influential series The Easy Chair. During the 1950s, he also contributed as a speechwriter for Adlai Stevenson.
