Barbara John

Barbara Ellen Johnson was an American literary critic and translator born in Boston. She served as a professor of English and Comparative Literature at Harvard University, where her scholarship integrated structuralist and poststructuralist perspectives. Associated with the Yale School of academic criticism, she was instrumental in translating and introducing the work of Jacques Derrida to English-speaking audiences.
