Adriaen Brouwer

Adriaen Brouwer was a Flemish painter active in Flanders and the Dutch Republic during the first half of the 17th century. He was a significant innovator of genre painting, known for his vivid depictions of tavern life and his contributions to the development of tronies. His small body of work, which includes landscapes produced in his final year, influenced later generations of Dutch and Flemish painters and was collected by artists such as Peter Paul Rubens and Rembrandt.
